Watford City Chamber Keeping Christmas Spirit Alive With Festive Events

Watford City will be looking festive this year with tons of Christmas events happening throughout November and December.
McKenzie County 4-H Junior Leaders are having their Annual Spudfest Friday, Nov. 25 at 4:30 p.m., at the Watford City Civic Center kitchen. Orders for spuds can be made after 4:30 p.m. by calling 701-570-4472. They are moving it to Main Street near Door 204 at 6 p.m.
Watford City Chamber of Commerce's Annual Parade of Lights will be lighting up the city Friday, Nov. 25 at 6:30 p.m. The parade will head up the hill to Park Ave., left on Park Ave. to Main Street. Right on Main to 5th Ave., right on 2nd St. NE, right on 4th Ave., and a left onto Main Street. The parade will end on Park Ave. with fireworks. This year a panel of three judges is judging the floats and the prize will be a traveling trophy and $150 to the winners in two categories; overall outstanding entry presenting and illustrating the parade theme, "Merry & Bright" and overall outstanding entry presenting the best use of lights.
The Long X Arts Foundation is hosting the Parade of Lights Make & Take Ornament Craft Friday, Nov. 25 at 6:30-7:30 p.m, at Door 204. Coffee will be served at 204 N. Main St. There will be free pipe cleaner and beaded ornaments for kids to make.
Small Business Saturday Vendor and Crafts Fair is scheduled at the Boulder Ridge Community Building, 906 Park Ave W. See Santa, have lunch and shop.
The Long X Arts Foundation is hosting a Gnome Hugging Light-Up Tree class at the Rough Rider Center. You will be making a gnome and tree that forms a heart. ** Clip-in Light kit and 1 pack of multi-color pin lights included. **It's a take-home-the-night-of painting project, no firing necessary. The Rough Rider Center will host a Jingle Bell Jog Holiday 5k run Friday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. There will be prizes awarded to first male and female finishers and best costume. There is a $30 registration fee for adults and $20 fee for youth; register at http://www.roughridercenter.com.
Saturday, Dec. 3 children 5-8 years old are invited to learn about young Teddy Roosevelt at the Heritage Park at Teddy's Kids Camp, 904 2nd Ave. SW.
Saturday, Dec. 3, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. a Christmas Fest will be held at the Rough Rider Center Convention Hall. Get pictures with Santa, shopping, Christmas crafts, food, fun, and more.Admission is $5.
Sunday, Dec 4, 4-7:30 p.m. The Hispanic Advocacy North Dakota would like to present the second annual La Posada-a Hispanic Christmas Celebration at the Watford City Civic Center. There will be carols, a live show, piñatas, music, food vendors, and door prizes.The Watford City Chamber of Commerce is also hosting its Light Up Watford City competition. The Chamber encourages community members to deck their home with lights, lawn ornaments, wreaths, and anything that will help bring holiday cheer. Cash prizes will be awarded to houses awarded as Chamber choice, classic Christmas, or Clark Griswold. Registration deadline is Dec. 5. Judging will take place Dec. 7. Saturday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m., the Running Free Organization will host their second annual Santa Walk/Run at Six Shooters. This will be a 5k and 1 mile run; cost is $30 for adults and $15 for children.
