Pictured is an agate that was found in the Glendive area. Flawless and scenic pieces like that are very sought after and rare. It's not common to find agates that rent fractured from the many years of tumbling down the river. (Submitted photo)

Saturday, March 18 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The First Inaugural Gem & Mineral Show will be at the Richland County Fairgrounds, 211 W. Holly St., Sidney. Admission to the show is $3 for adults, kids 12 and under are free.

There will be several vendors at the show with many different items including, jewelry, gemstones, fossils, crystals & amethyst, rough rock & slabs, agates & geodes plus much more.

There will also be a Kids Corner which will have a "Wheel of Fortune, Gem Dig, Grab Bag and Garnet Picking.

Eddie White and Doug Copeland are the co-founders of the inaugural gem and mineral show in Sidney. With shows dotted all over the state, the two got together and had a discussion on how Sidney has been overlooked being one of the best stretches of river in the state for dendrite and colorful agates. That led to them organizing a show which they hope will go on for many years to come. A one day show this year can easily turn into a 2 day show next year depending on how well it all goes.

For more information call Doug Copeland, 406-480-0765 or Eddie White, 406-413-1136.
