Sidney Drill Team Takes Home 1st Place

The Sidney High School drill team Cheerfest, was Friday, March 17, in Lewistown.

Cheerfest is a yearly cheer & dance competition for Montana teams.

This is the second year they have participated under coach Weslie Zoanni, and is the only high school dance competition found in Montana.

The drill team came home with 1st place in the large group division of the dance competition. They danced to Metallica's "Enter Sandman".

"The team does all the choreography. I just tell them I want kicks here and turns here or a roll off here and they take it from there," said Coach Zoanni.

The drill team has regular performance season wrapped up with the end of divisional basketball in February. They have been working on their Cheerfest performance since then. The team was invited to perform their winning number at the Sidney Dance Talent Competition, at the end of April, put on by the Dance Talent Company owner, Cindy Linde. Unfortunately, it's too far out of their season to perform, but they appreciated the invite. Zoanni is already looking forward to next year.
