The Long X Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the second exhibition in their new gallery space located in the lower level of the Long X Visitor Center, 100 2nd Ave. SW, Watford City.
"Art in the Parks" is a collection of work inspired by North Dakota's state parks. It is on display from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday until June 23. The exhibit is free and open to the public and comes to Watford City from its last show in the state capital.
Each year, the North Dakota Parks & Recreation Department and North Dakota Council on the Arts put out a call for artists to participate in the Artist in Residency program within the North Dakota State Parks. The Artist in Residency program offers artists the opportunity to stay and work in unique environments where they'll draw inspiration from a North Dakota State Park, demonstrate their skills, and assist park visitors of all ages in discovering their artistic side.
The program's goal is to continue creating works of art that showcase, document, and celebrate our North Dakota state parks while providing opportunities for visitors to become stewards, with a deeper appreciation of artistic works inspired by the state parks. Artworks generated from this program have characterized the state's beauty for present and future generations, allowing park visitors to see North Dakota through the eyes and ears of contributing artists.
The exhibition features the work of 20 artists who have pieces inspired by Lake Metigoshe State Park, Icelandic State Park, Turtle River State Park, Beaver Lake State Park, Cross Ranch State Park, Lewis and Clark State Park, Fort Ransom State Park, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park and Fort Stevenson State Park.
Explore work by Michelle Brusegaard, Nicole Gagner, Megan Hanson, Lise Erdrich, Shalini Agarwal, Terri Berg, Marie Snavely, Johnathan Campbell, Heidi Goldberg, Karen Bakke, Linda Roesch, Candace Brekke, Pieper Bloomquist, Aaron Michels, Jennifer Mathews, Jane Kalmbach, Linae Bieber, Ron Siverson, Whitney Nielsen and Tayla Sessing.
This exhibition is sponsored by the North Dakota Art Gallery Association with support from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
