Arnegard Spud Fest Set For Sept. 7

The Arnegard Spud Fest will be on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Arnegard's Nelson Park. This is an annual event that is usually held the weekend after Labor Day. There will be live music, a farmer's market, vendors, food, games, prizes, face painting, pumpkins, cornhole, hayrides, a giant pumpkin contest, and of course...... Spuds!

This year's Spud Fest will begin with 'The Tater Trot 5K' at 9 a.m. There will be a $25 entry fee with all proceeds going to support the Ceynar family. Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. at Nelson Park and 5K walkers are welcome! Please join us to support this local family!

The Spud Fest is hosted by the Arnegard Park District in conjunction with its local event sponsors, and will be free admission thanks to: the Arnegard Park District, the Woodshop, Charlie's Services, Black Gold Contractors, the Arnegard Lions Club, and Steve's Elk River Nursery.

"Spud Fest is a harvest celebration at the changing of the seasons, highlighting Arnegard's rich agricultural and potato growing heritage," said Philip Litteral, one of the organizers. The festival offers produce and crop competitions as well as judging of home preserves and baked goods. "On Friday night, pumpkins are weighed in for the giant pumpkin contest!" said Litteral.

The festival officially begins Saturday morning with a benefit 5k run called the "Tater Trot".  This year, the benefits will go to the recently bereaved local Ceynar family. In addition to the Cornhole Tournament, Potato Sack/Burlap outfit judging, festival attendees will enjoy a lot more entertainment, all day long.
