Sidney High School Promotes Theresa Edwards To Head Softball Coach

Sidney, MT - Sidney High School announces the appointment of Theresa Edwards as the new head softball coach. Board approval for the hire was issued at the Oct. 14 meeting. After one season with the softball team as an assistant coach, Edward's knowledge and a passion for the game made her the ideal fit to lead the program.

As a standout fastpitch catcher at Mason County Eastern High School in Custer, MI (2005), Edwards earned All-State, All-Conference, and All–District honors during her playing career. After high school, life brought her away from fastpitch but she has remained an active participant in co-ed softball leagues in MI and MT. Edwards has been a youth coach for softball and baseball leagues in Sidney for the last four years. Last season, Edwards was hired as an assistant coach for the Eagles and she is very excited and ready to step into the head coaching role and lead the program going forward.

Now, with a year of coaching at the high school level under her belt, Edwards says she "looks to build the team around respect, integrity, teamwork, commitment, effort and a positive attitude while also developing a winning culture for the program." She added, "I am honored to have been chosen as the new coach for the Sidney Eagle Softball program. I cannot wait to instill a love for the game in the next generation while sharing my knowledge with them."

"We are very excited to see what Coach Edwards can do with the softball program moving forward," said Activities Director Chris Lee. "Her passion for the game is very evident and she has big goals to grow the game of softball in Sidney. We are looking forward to the future of Sidney Eagle softball."

Coach Edwards, with her husband Robert and daughter Emily, have lived in Sidney for 14 years. She is currently a Senior Field Analyst for Continental Resources. Edwards also serves on the boards for Richland Youth Hockey and Richland Opportunities, Inc. and is an active volunteer with many youth and community activities and events in the area.
