The iconic red kettles and volunteer bell ringers, have become a recognizable part of the Christmas season, representing a spirit of charity, hope, and compassion. It is one of the longest running, and most successful Holiday fundraising efforts in the United States. The tradition dates back to 1891 in California. Originally next to the red kettle was a sign to encourage passersby to “Keep the Pot Boiling”. By the early 1900s, the campaign had expanded across America.

The Salvation Army’s Christmas Bell Ringing Campaign is more than a fundraising effort; it’s a symbol of kindness, charity, and community spirit that captures the essence of the holiday season. For over a century, the ringing of bells has brought people together to help those in need, and it continues to inspire people to give back in big and small ways. This enduring tradition reminds us of the power of collective generosity, and the difference, each of us can make during the season of giving Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone.
