Fun Changes for Fall!
The seasons are changing, and so are things at your library, but we promise it’s for the better. In October, we have several first ever events that we hope will keep you happy, healthy and entertained all the way through Halloween! Keep reading if you want to know how to stay healthy this fall, sign up your (K-5) child to read to a very special canine friend, enter our pumpkin decorating contest or trick us out of some candy!
First, you can join us on October 13th at 11am for a special presentation by Dr. Melody Keller of Radiant Natural Health. She’ll do a hands-on presentation about cold and flu prevention and simple treatments for stuffy noses, fevers and more with some great tips to get better and stay healthy.
Do you have a child in grades K – 5? If they’re learning to read, they might benefit from time with Shea and Natalie, registered dog therapy team with Pet Partners. Natalie will help your child read a story to Shea (who is an awesome listener), and help kids build reading skills and confidence. The dog is an always positive, non-judgmental reading buddy who can bring out the best in even shy, struggling readers. You can meet Shea and Natalie to ask questions on October 16th from 5:30 to 6:30pm or call us at 433-1917 for more details and to schedule your reading times.
But maybe you’re the artistic type, and if that’s the case, we’d like you to come visit us and grab an entry form for our first ever Pumpkin Decorating Contest. We’ll display the pumpkins through Halloween, and everyone who enters has a chance to win a great Halloween cookbook!
Finally, all the little ghouls, goblins, super heroes and fairy-princess-astronaut-veterinarians, are invited to stop by the Library during the Chamber’s Trail of Treats on October 31st. We’ll have candy, pumpkins to view, and some great Halloween books and movies ready to check out.
We hope you’ll stop by and check out one (or all) of the great things we have going on this month. And watch this space for information about next month’s happenings. Here’s a teaser: On November 9th, we’ll have a presentation by former NASA consultant Dr. Kevin Manning called “Astronomy for Everyone: The Size and Scale of the Universe.” For more information visit us online at http://www.richland.org/spl , like us on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/sidneyrichlandlibrary, or call us at 433-1917. The Sidney-Richland County Library is open 6 days a week, from 9-5 Mon., Fri., and Sat., and 11 to 7 Tues., Weds., and Thurs.
