SIDNEY – Each year dozens of talented and imaginative individuals and groups construct, craft and engineer unique creations for the annual Best Kept Secret bra auction. This is the 10th anniversary for this exceptional event. Since its humble beginnings in 2005, the event has grown increasingly popular. What started out as a couple dozen people at the Triangle Nightclub is now a large enough event that only a venue like the Richland County Event Center can accommodate it. “In the beginning the funds from the event were used to help women throughout Richland County to receive critical screening tests for cervical cancer,” explains Heather Nevins, Cancer Coalition Steering Committee Member. “The event garnered enough funds that we quickly realized that we could leverage the funds to do even more.”
Funds from the event are also set aside for the newly created Cancer Coalition Aid Fund (CCAF). The fund has assisted friends and neighbors throughout Richland County who have been diagnosed with cancer. The committee awards grants up to $1,000 to offset the myriad of expenses that cancer patients struggle with while undergoing treatment.
This year’s event will take place on Friday, May 1st at the Richland County Event Center. Registration for the event begins at 6 p.m. The auction begins at 7 pm and the DJ will top off the evening at 9 pm.
It’s not too late to create your own unique bra for this event. Registration forms are available at the Richland County Health Department. There is a limit of three entries per person, business or group. The entire bra package will be auctioned off (excluding mannequins). If you have multiple items please include a detailed description of all pieces. All bras must be submitted by April 29 to the Richland County Health Department.
You can also support the event through a direct donation, sponsorship or donations of an item for the silent auction. For more information contact the Richland County Health Department at (406) 433-2207 or stop by their office at 1201 West Holly, Suite #1. All registration forms and information are also being made available on the Foundation for Community Care website at http://www.foundationforcommunitycare.org
