Dakota Nights Astronomy Festival Sept. 7 - 9

Friday, September 7 through Sunday, September 9, gather with park rangers, astronomers and storytellers for three days and nights of dark sky appreciation and exploration in Theodore Roosevelt National Park at Medora, ND.

Enjoy daytime activities on Saturday and Sunday: Discovery Dome Theater, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., South Unit Visitor Center; kids’ crafts and activities, 9 a.m.-3 p.m .; rocket building and launching, 1-4 p.m., Chimney Park, Medora; solar viewing, 1-4 p.m., Des Monies Park, Medora and solar system hikes, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m., Des Monies Park, Medora.

Featured presentations, Cottonwood Campground Amphitheater at 7 p.m. Friday, September 7, “extrasolar planets” with Dr. Corinne Brevik; Saturday, September 8, “the storyteller’s night sky” with Mark Stewart Adams and Sunday, “the park after dark” with Park Ranger Andrea Martinson. Also, enjoy “stargazing and telescopes”, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 8 p.m. at Peaceful Valley Ranch.
