Dakota West Credit Union Awards Scholarship To Watford City Senior

(Watford City, ND) ¬– One of the four scholarships awarded by Dakota West Credit Union has been bestowed upon a senior in McKenzie County. Jessen Homiston will receive $500 towards his college expenses.

Continuing its annual tradition, Dakota West Credit Union invited high school seniors throughout the communities it serves to participate in its 2019 scholarship opportunity and announced Homiston at the Watford City High School Awards Ceremony on May 8, 2019 and on its Facebook page as one of the recipients.

The essay competition focusing on the financial institution’s values – Communication, Respectfulness, Positive Attitude, and Responsibility – asked seniors to speak to their ideas of responsibility in their own lives.

Homiston, writing about his current take on Responsibility stated, “It basically means doing what you are supposed to do, being dependable and helping out.”

Homiston plans to attend a four-year school in North Dakota where he wants to pursue a degree in Accounting. “Being responsible means working hard and doing your best on the tasks given to you. It also means being respectful of others and their duties,” adds Homiston.
