As of Sept. 13, Pamela Shelmidine-Wipf joined the Richland County Fair & Rodeo as the new fairgrounds manager. With this position, she oversees the day-to-day operation of the fairgrounds, including regular maintenance and rental of the buildings. She will also procure the entertainment for the fair and oversee the logistics of Richland County Fair & Rodeo.
"Everything has been going well. I am enjoying getting to know the fair staff and the 4-H staff. I look forward to meeting more of the people in the community," stated Wipf.
Wipf is originally from Jefferson County in upstate New York. She is a 10-year veteran of United States Air Force, has three grown children, and loves fiber arts, quilting, and gardening. Her most recent position was Fair Manager at Jefferson County Fair, which is the longest continuously operating county fair in United States.
She said, "I have been a county fair manager for many years where the position was seasonal, to have the opportunity to manage a facility that operates year-round was always on my priority list."
She is looking forward to getting to know Richland County, its businesses, and its people. Her long-term goal is to find ways to improve our fairgrounds to make it "the place to be" at any time of the year.
The community is key to the success of any county fair. She explained that she hopes to continue to nurture the positive relationships with community members and businesses that are already in place.
Wipf added, "I want to develop new relationships with local groups and businesses to grow an even stronger bond between the community and Richland County Fair. I strongly believe the fair should support as many local businesses as possible - we cannot thrive without each other."
