The Long X Arts Foundation's Watford City Area Concert Series is excited to announce the lineup for the 2022-23 Concert Series, the fourth series for the organization that is committed to providing high quality entertainment at an affordable rate for members of the community.
Kicking off the Concert Series on Sept. 28 is "Brothers" featuring the hits of "musical brothers" like Lennon & McCartney, Hall & Oates, The Righteous Brothers, The Beach Boys and many others. The duo features Jim Witter on the vocals, piano and guitar and Ian Tanner on bass, guitars and vocals. The duo has created and toured many terrific shows celebrating musical legends. This concert combines excellent musicianship, an easy, warm rapport with the audience and terrific videos to complement the shows and will certainly lead to standing ovations!
The concert series is once again teaming up with the Comedy Café, starring stand-up comedian Tommy Ryman and John Bush. Ryman was a semifinalist on Season 8 on the TV show Last Comic Standing. His oddly-adorable stand-up landed him No. 2 on iTunes comedy charts for his album, "Having the Time of my Life." Ryman was invited to be on Nickelodeon's NickMom Night Out and has a full comedy special on Dry Bar Comedy. Tommy's act can be described as absurdist, and clever masked behind an endearing innocent demeanor. John Bush has performed stand-up comedy on HBO, Comedy Central, as well as sketches on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. The Comedy Café event serves as a fundraiser for Bakken Oil Rush Thrift Store, which provides one of the area's only thrift stores to help people who are struggling to provide basic needs for their families. Catch it on Oct. 7.
Later in the fall, on Nov. 22, Pianist to the Presidents David Osborne will be taking the stage. Osborne has performed in the White House 75 times for every president since Ronald Reagan to Donald Trump. David Osborne regularly performs at the Bellagio Resort and Casino in Las Vegas when he is not touring with "The David Osborne Trio". David remains the master of Romantic Piano performing classical and romantic to Broadway and pop tunes by keeping his repertoire of arrangements up to date with the most popular tunes.
On Feb. 25, 2023 "Parallel Exit" will perform their special combination of song and dance mixed with slapstick and physical comedy to produce a delightful show for any audience. Parallel Exit creates compelling stories that are family-friendly, cultivating art that speaks to a culturally boundless audience of any age. Productions have received both local and international praise for their inventiveness, energy, and originality.
The 2022-23 Watford City Area Concert Series will wrap up with a special, high-energy concert at the Rough Rider Center. "Beginnings: A Celebration of the Music of Chicago" is a NYC-based seven-piece band dedicated to the great music of the band we all know and love.
"We have had such wonderful support, energy and momentum coming into our fourth season. We are excited to kick off the lineup the community has hand-picked, featuring acts that appeal to all ages and tastes," said Jessie Scofield, Long X Arts Foundation president of the concert series committee and director.
The Watford City Area Concert Series is a membership driven organization, with individual memberships starting at $50. A 2022-23 membership grants access to five Watford City based concerts as well as reciprocity with concert series lineups in Williston, Dickinson, Crosby and Hazen. There are a variety of membership levels to choose from. To find out more contact Jessie Scofield, Long X Arts Foundation Director at 701-770-8659 or [email protected] or visit longxarts.com/concert-series.html.
All concerts and appearances take place at 7 p.m. CT in the Watford City High School Theater Auditorium except Beginnings, which will be held in the Rough Rider Center. In addition to performing for the community, many of these performers will be doing a program for select schools in the community during their visit.
