Northeastern Arts Network Concert March 17

The Northeastern Arts Network presents their finale of the Big Sky Concert Season on Friday, March 17 with a unique duo celebrating chamber music from the 18th Century. Baroque Music Montana specializes in music inspired by history, performing works by celebrated composers of the Baroque, as well as many pieces rarely or not heard since the 18th century. Baroque violinist Carrie Krause and Seattle based lutenist John Lenti have toured together with their repertoire from their recently recorded album, Sonata Tramontana, the first in Montana on period instruments.

On both Baroque and modern violin, Artistic Director and violinist, Krause is a recognized musical leader in Montana and beyond. Her innovative and deeply researched programming includes not only treasured pieces of the repertoire but also unusual and rarely heard pieces, the majority played in Montana for the first time, whether performed in houses, churches, backyards, or parks. She has been enthralled with the violin as far back as age three, and she fell in love with the music of Bach. She received her bachelor's degree from Carnegie Mellon University and master's from the Cleveland Institute of Music in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy. She took a two-year leave from her position as concertmaster of the Bozeman Symphony to earn her second master's in Historical Performance at Juilliard.

This concert will be held at the MonDak Heritage Center at 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door $20/adult, $18/Sr and $15/student. For concert information contact Leann 406-480-5594, Candy 406-488-4155 or Jill 406-489-4304.

The Big Sky Series is made possible in part by the Montana Performing Arts Consortium Presenter Development Program which is supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, Montana Arts Council, legislative grant from Montana's Cultural Trust, and WESTAF.
