A Family Tradition, Watford City's Homefest Is Around The Corner

Watford City will be having its 33rd annual Homefest Friday, July 14-Saturday, July 15. Several different events will be put on across Watford City.

On July 14, the Watford City Community and Economic Development will be having an open house at 10 a.m.

At 11 a.m., Dakota West Credit Union will be holding a Customer Appreciation event.

Next at 3 p.m., Gretchen Stenehjem author of "Buddy the Dog" will be at Pioneer Gifts and Books.

At 7 p.m., the 406 FMX Races will be held at the McKenzie County Ag Expo.

The street dance on Main Street with Junction 281 at 8 p.m. will finish out the evening.

At 9 a.m., July 15 the 5K Run/Walk will start at the Rough Rider Center.

At 10 a.m. there will be an Art Show at 1st International Bank; high school tours at Watford City High School; and Arts in the Park. During Arts in the Park will be a fun Homefest tradition at the Tourist Park Covered Stage.

The baby pageant sponsored by Beaver Creek Kids will start at 11 a.m. The theme is "Let's Disco!" Registration is $10 per child. At 10:30 a.m. the Co-Ed Mud Volleyball Tournament will start at Tourist Park.

At 1:30 p.m., the Lil Wrangler Youth Rodeo will be held at the old fairgrounds.

At 3 p.m., a Cornhole Tournament will be held on Main Street.

Then at 4 p.m. the Dedication of Veterans Memorial Park will take place. At 4:30 p.m., the American Bombshells will begin their performance as part of the dedication.

Finishing out the evening there will be a street dance on Main Street starting at 8 p.m. with Josie and the Whalers.

On both days the Missoula Children's Theatre will be performing "King Arthur's Quest" at Watford City High School and "End of the Rope" will be playing at the Six Shooter Theatre.

Most of the events going on during Homefest will be free but, registration or tickets will need to be purchased to participate in the Homefest 5K Run/Walk, Beaver Creek Baby Pageant, Mud Volleyball Tournament, and Cornhole Tournament.
