Jackie Pfeiffer-McGregor and Janine Pfeiffer-Knop, authors of “While the Windmill Watched” will be at Books on Broadway, Williston to sign their book on Saturday, Sept. 30.
The Pfeiffer sisters wrote and published their book in 2021. According to their website, http://www.whilethewindmillwatched.com in “While the Windmill Watched”, a windmill takes on the unique role of narrator as it chronicles the 1950s through the lives of the Pfeiffer Sisters, Jackie and Janine, as they grow up on a farm near Menoken, ND. Written in four voices—each sister, the sisters together, and the windmill—the book describes how social and technological innovations that occurred mid-century played out in the daily lives of farmers, ranchers, and townspeople across the great plains. Now retired, Jackie Pfeiffer McGregor is a world traveler and adventurer. She lives near Colville, WA, with her husband, Bob. Janine Pfeiffer Knop is now a business owner, operating her southwest IA and online business, Miss NiNi’s Fine Desserts, where they also breed and raise award-winning sheep.
The book signing is the beginning of their third annual North Dakota book tour and in anticipation of the North Dakota film company Canticle Production’s plans to make “While the Windmill Watched” its next film. According to their website, on Oct. 4, 2022, the Sisters were guests on Prairie Public’s Main Street with Ashley Thornberg to talk about the movie. There will be snacks in the coffee bar to enjoy while the sisters share about their book and upcoming movie.
