Fairview High School Graduate Publishes Book

Fairview High School graduate Joshua Knels has published a book, The Seattle Massacre, through iUniverse publishers. Knels, currently at Bismarck State College studying English as a major with a minor in psychology, started writing this book a year ago, and he says this book is the first of seven in his fictional Ripper series.

“This is a series of books that pits a serial killer against homicide detectives and eventually the FBI,” Knels says. “This is a work of fiction, not based on a true story. I will have seven books in this series, but I also plan to write other series based on characters from the original work.”

Knels began writing seriously at the age of 15. He feels compelled to write, and a year ago, following a vivid dream, he began working on The Seattle Massacre. “This book was inspired by a dream, where the main character approached me and told me he had a story to tell me,” Knels says. “I started to write the story, and it quickly became an obsession.”

Knels loves writing and along with his college classes he carves time out of his busy schedule each day to write. “I make time to write every day,” he says. “I spend three hours a day writing during the weekdays, and on weekends I spend from five to eight hours each day to work on my book. I am very dedicated to this.”

With the publication of his first book, Knels feels his hard work has been well worth the effort. “I feel like I’ve accomplished something,” he remarks. “Growing up, I didn’t feel like I was worth much, but this book has really boosted my confidence.”

The Seattle Massacre is available through Amazon. The book will also be available through Barnes and Noble by Christmas.

Knels has started work on the second book of the series, Trails of Blood. He expects this book will be released this coming summer.
