MFU Members Travel to National Farmers Union Convention

Montana Farmers Union (MFU) President Alan Merrill and 15 MFU members will travel to the National Farmers Union convention in being held March 2-5, 2013, Springfield, MA.

The group includes seven delegates who will help shape the direction of the organization’s national public policy.  Delegates include Brett Dailey, Jordan, MFU board representative; Erik Somerfeld, Power, MFU board representative; Terry Anvik, Fairview; Doug Crabtree, Helena; Will Downs, Molt; and Sarah Eisenzimer, Lincoln, youth delegate. 

Other MFU members joining President Merrill at the convention include:  Mary Jane Anvik, Fairview; Henry and Vanette Nagamori, Loma; Eric and Audra Bergman, Fort Shaw, FUE Young Couple representatives.  Attending from the MFU Education Department are Delisa Clampitt, MFU Education Director; and three 2012 Torchbearers:  Blake Eisenzimer, Lincoln; Todd Murphy, Helena; and Violet Green, Fort Benton.  Briana Green, Great Falls, also will attend as a member of the National Youth Advisory Council.

“We are looking forward to helping shape the policy discussion at the national organizational level,” said Merrill.  “There are topics to appeal to all members including a presentation by USDA Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan as well as workshops on our shared challenges, international agriculture, conservation compliance, farm safety, scaling up to meet local demand, and 10 things any woman in ag needs to know.”
