Sidney Academic Olympics

Sidney High School sent 10 students to Glasgow March 18th to represent the student body. They each took 4 tests. The English test, Social Studies, and Science tests each had 100 questions and the math test had 50 problems. After lunch, the teams competed against the other schools in our class in oral rounds. At the end of the afternoon, awards were given for the top 10 students on each written test as well as top student for each grade level.

Placing on the English test: Shelby Reidle, second place; Kory Halvorson and Aubrey Kessel tied for 4th place, and Brady Bell in 8th place.

On the Science test: Joe Mindt took 1st place, 6th place went to Ethan Petrik and Aubrey Kessel took 7th place.

On the math test Brady Bell took first place and Kory Halvorson took 6th place

On the Social Studies test Shelby Reidle took first place followed by Aubrey Kessel with one point less for second place and Brady Bell in 5th place.

Overall, Sidney's two teams placed 2nd and 4th for total team points. The team taking second place included Kory Halvorson and Mark LaPan, seniors; Shelby Reidle, junior; Michael McGinnis, sophomore, and Joe Mindt, freshman. The team taking fourth place included Brady Bell and Kortney Mayer, seniors; Aubrey Kessel, junior; Dawson McGlothlin, sophomore, and Ethan Petrik, freshman

Top 9th grade medal went to Ethan Petrik and the Top 11th grade medal to Shelby Reidle
