Faith United Methodist Church in Williston to Hold Free Christmas Dinner

Faith United Methodist Church in Williston celebrated its 5th Anniversary of Out In Faith Bakken Oil Rush Ministries during its weekly Saturday evening meal December 8th.

For five years now, the church has provided a free meal at 6:03 p.m. each Saturday for anyone who wishes to come. “It’s been a great blessing,” pastor Ross Reinhiller said. “We’ve had lots of folks come, from all walks of life and all circumstances. You never know who you may be sitting next to. They might be new to the area, possibly homeless, or they may be a business owner just looking for fellowship. When we started this five years ago, we mostly served unaccompanied men but now we’re seeing more families.” The Saturday event includes the free dinner, plus a take away meal, and conversation followed by a worship time. There’s also a Kid Zone which is like Sunday School for the kids.

On Saturday, December 22, a special Christmas meal will be served at 6:03 p.m. CST. All are invited to enjoy food, fellowship, and special music by the Jore family. “The Thanksgiving meal we served was really good,” Pastor Reinhiller said. “We’re hoping for a great turnout for our Christmas meal as well.”

The main focus of the ministry is outreach. The ‘baby brigade’ supplies diapers and other baby items as well as support for the women. And, in the last six weeks, over 200 coats and 100 blankets have been given to those in need of some warmth. In addition, the ministry teams up with Community Connections, which is a Lutheran outreach in Williston, to provide sack lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday for anyone who needs one.

“It’s been wonderful to see the growth and see lives change through this ministry,” Reinhiller stated.
