BSAR Receives Donated Camper Trailer From McKenzie County

Thanks to the generosity of the county commission and emergency manager, Badlands Search & Rescue (BSAR) now has a camper trailer to work on and set up better for the organization. The trailer was originally purchased several years ago by the County from FEMA but was never put to use for emergency management and has went unused for the last several years.
BSAR will be able to utilize it for their purposes as an extended mission (over 12 hours) mobile command and rehab (rest/replenish) center as well as a mobile education unit.
With some minor remodel, repair, and modifications it will benefit immensely in missions and comes at a great time when they are also looking to outfit the enclosed trailer donated earlier this year as a gear and short mission (less than 12 hours) mobile command and rehab unit. It can also be deployed to assist other emergency services upon request and be staged at public events and gatherings.
This camper trailer, with kitchen and restroom amenities will be remodeled to have a briefing room, communications center, rehabilitation, and classroom space. Having the kitchen and restroom features will also make this the prolonged mission unit for obvious reasons with those two features alone.
The BSAR team is once again very thankful to the McKenzie County Board of Commissioners and McKenzie County's Emergency Management Director Karolin Jappe, for their steadfast and very beneficial assistance with these donations. As BSAR is a private, nonprofit group that receives no tax dollars for funding and relies solely on donations of this type in order to procure the needed gear and equipment to use. BSAR was established in 2018 and functions as a regional team to assist at the request of government agencies, usually law enforcement. BSAR also is the team for responses and search/rescue missions within the boundaries of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in partnership with the National Park Service.
