(Updated 7-19-21): The Miss MT Volunteer wins a $5000 scholarship, not $1000, and the preteen wins $500, not $250.
(Original Story): Brielle Gorder, Sidney, is one of seven contestants hoping to be crowned the first Miss Montana Teen Volunteer at the Miss Montana Volunteer pageant July 22-24 in Glendive. The winner receives a $1000 scholarship; all teen contestants earn at least a $300 scholarship. Brielle, an upcoming senior at Sidney High School, was first runner up in the 2020 Miss MT Scholarship Program and third runner up for Miss MT Teen USA 2020.

Thursday and Friday night are preliminary competitions with Miss MT Pre-teen, age 8-12, crowned Thursday and Miss Montana Teen Volunteer crowned Friday and the Miss Montana Volunteer Saturday at DCHS Auditorium, Glendive. Showtime is 7 p.m. nightly. The Miss Montana Teen Volunteer judging criteria is 40% interview, 20% talent, 20% evening gown and 20% fitness and wellness.
Daughter of Shane and Lisa Gorder, Sidney, Brielle is best known for her dancing, receiving many awards representing Cutting Edge Dance Studio. She will be tap dancing to "Get Ready" by the Temptations for the talent competition.
She has lettered at SHS in cheer and dance, track, volleyball and as a wrestling manager. She won the Montana Cheerfest solo competition. She is also active in 4-H, Key Club and student council. Brielle started an ATV Safety Awareness Facebook page and held a virtual ATV Safety Contest for Kids.
The Miss Montana board based in Glendive, along with 44 other states switched to the new Miss America Volunteer program based in Tennessee as it focuses on advancing young women through education and service. Their mission spells SERVE from the five points of the crown: scholarship, education, responsibility, volunteerism and empowerment.
Tickets are available online at http://www.missmontanavolunteer.org and at the door of the DCHS Auditorium. Tickets for all three nights are $50 lower seating or $40 upper seating. Individual nights are $10, 15, $20 or $5 more for closer seating. Vote for your favorite to win an additional scholarship at that website.
The pageant is part of Dawson Days, with crazy days Friday and Saturday, Bell Street Bridge Day Saturday 10 a.m. -4 p.m. with the triathlon finish line at Eyer Park and a vendors' market there and along Bell Street. Friday is cornhole and disc golf tournament and outdoor movie at Makoshika State Park. The Hometown Pride parade is Friday at 1p.m. followed by ice cream provided by Cross Petroleum and sponsored by the chamber.
