The Sidney Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture is excited to be kicking of the 25th class of the Sidney Area Leadership Program this September. The Leadership Task force is utilizing feedback from over 250 graduates from industries in the community. They will be retooling the program and ensuring beneficial outcomes for the future participants.
“We are excited for this new direction and thrilled to make these adjustments for the community,” states Katie Dasinger, Chamber director of programs.
Registration is open on the Chamber website, http://www.sidneymt.com now through Sept. 7.The course will be the second Wednesday of each month from September-April from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. along with a community service project and participants will still engage in the community. However, instead of focusing the class on industry education, the class is now based on skills development and instilling a sustainable “Leadership in Action”, a long range plan for their own leadership journey, among its participants.
Upon applying, participants will be sent a Myers-Briggs best practices assessment that will be used as a base professional development curriculum. The participants will be introduced to
Grace Space Leadership Theories a “container” for leadership in all aspects of their lives. The morning will be spent on those curriculum elements with themes such as “Core Value”, “Conflict Resolution” and “Self Care” while they spend afternoons engaging in personalized conversations with community leaders and how they practice those same skills in their lives, businesses and community engagement.
The class originated in 1998 as an avenue to develop new community leaders by introducing them to different industries and ideas in the Richland County community. It has stemmed many community improvement project and introduced people to new opportunities.
You can also register in person at the Chamber during business hours. Cost to Chamber members is $250. Not to worry though, if your business is not yet a member, you can still participate in the class for a rate of $300.
