The Stephen Lambdin Seminar Experience is coming to Sidney on Saturday, Nov. 19, and Sunday, Nov. 20. In two action-packed days, Lambdin will be putting on his world-class seminar for Tendokan students and all area athletes.
Lambdin is the current strength and conditioning coach for the United States Olympic team. He qualified for taekwondo in the 2016 Olympics and is the winner of many other competitions throughout his career. Overall, according to his website, Stephen has represented the United States on over 30 different national teams. He does seminars, talks, and consultations across the country to help athletes put their all into their performance.
The instructors of Tendokan Taekwondo contacted Stephen Lambdin and asked him to do his seminar for the students of the dojo. Jerrold Baxter and his daughter Brielle already had experience with Stephen and his techniques as Brielle had trained with him in preparation for competing over the summer of 2022. They had wanted to get him here for a while, but things finally moved into place. They were able to book the Sidney Assembly of God gym for Nov.19 and are still looking for a place for Nov. 20. The local Jaycees helped out with fundraising and others in the community will be helping as well. The seminar is to prepare athletes for the upcoming competition season and will incorporate kicking drills and techniques, strength and conditioning workouts, mobility training, breathing exercises, and more. Most of the time is strictly for the students of Tendokan but two hours of day one are open to all athletes. While all athletes are welcome to participate, the seminar will be fast-moving and is intended for those with the aspirations or ability to compete or coach.
Day one will have from 8-10 a.m. Strength and Conditioning for all local athletes, 10 a.m.-noon will be a Taekwondo performance, 1-3 p.m. Taekwondo performance part 2, and 3-4 p.m. Mobility. Day two will have breathing work from 10-11 a.m., from 11-1 p.m. Taekwondo performance part 3, and from 2-5 p.m. a rumble and sparring matches. Sidney Assembly of God is located at 414 E. Main. The seminar is $100 per person but free to the school-age athletes of Richland County. Space is limited so watch Sidney Tendokan's Facebook page for registration.
