Eldridges Honored Latest Recipients Of Above & Beyond Award

The Fairview Chamber of Commerce awarded its Above & Beyond for Fairview to Paul and Joan Eldridge in recognition of their tireless work for the chamber, the Friends of the Fairview Bridge and the community.

The couple was instrumental in the creation of the Lighting of the Bridge and the craft show held each November and continue to come up with new ideas to make the occasion even better. The huge lighted ornaments are their handiwork and Paul is always at the park, helping to get everything set up for the enjoyment of everyone who attends. They organized the craft show for many years, just giving over the reins to Faith Oakland the last couple of years.

The ornamental ironwork on the street lights on Ellery Avenue is their work, as are the wheat and cattle at the Loaf 'n Jug corner. The Fairview Bridge is special to Paul and Joan and they have been willing to help with anything related to its upkeep.

In their early years, Joan served on the East Fairview School board and Paul was very active with the Lions Club. Now, Joan enjoys scrapbooking, Paul continues to collect antique toys and they love to travel. They have two children, Tammi and Walter, and keep busy with their four grandchildren's activities.

Eldridges are always willing to lend a helping hand with any project, going Above and Beyond for Fairview.
