    Formerly Kentucky Fried Chicken, Bob's Hen House has a new recipe, a new look, and a new owner. Bob Blair opened the business on Aug. 18th after about six weeks of cleaning, painting, and putting up the new signs, which Blair designed himself. Blair moved to Sidney in 2008 and found employment at Sidney Sugars. Unfortunately, Blair suffered severe internal injuries when a 600 lb. piece of metal fell on him while he was working at the Knife Station, which resulted in a yearlong recovery. Needing...

    In September of 2015 Patricia Knoepke was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, and was facing immediate surgery. There is no convenient time for a medical emergency, and for Pat, it meant being temporarily unavailable to care for so many people who depended on her. Pat is a caretaker to her mother, Isabel, who lives with her and her husband, and runs a daycare that her mom began in 1976.   • The 2016 Harvest Brought in a Record Breaking Sugar Beet Crop

    It was an interesting growing season and harvest for sugar beets this year, with 2016 being a record year for tonnage. There was an estimated 31 – 31.5 tons per acre, however lots of fall rain pushed that number to an average of 33.4 tons per acre in comparison to 32.3 tons/acre in 2015, and 30.4 tons per acre in 2014.
