“Friends, Family, Community” Is The Theme For This Year’s Richland Co. Fair & Rodeo

The Richland County Fair and Rodeo’s theme this year will be “Friends, Family, Community”. The fair will kick off on Wednesday, Aug. 3 and go through Saturday, Aug. 6. This year’s lineup in the grandstands starts off on Wednesday night with the free-admission Horse Extravaganza at 7:30 p.m. followed by rodeo action on Thursday and Friday nights by PRCA Rodeo with Brookman Rodeo Company at 7:30 p.m. Don’t forget to wear pink for Friday night’s rodeo theme “Tough Enough to Wear Pink”.

Fair goers can enjoy the grand finale Saturday night with performances by country music artists Dierks Bentley with special guest Jason Jones starting at 7:30 p.m. The free daily entertainment includes Kid Fiddlers; James Wedgwood, ventriloquist; Pippi the Clown and The Bad Larrys.

The Antique Tractor Show is returning this year as well as the screams and laughter from the Royal West Carnival located down the Midway. Wednesday will be Military Appreciation Day with a 1 p.m. Flag Raising Ceremony and events throughout the afternoon and evening.

Everyone is invited to enjoy a complimentary root beer float at the co-op booth from 4 p.m. until gone on Thursday.

Friday is designated as Wells Fargo Day. Stop by for some free watermelon from 4-6 pm in the sponsor tent across from the fair office. Browse through the Commercial Building booths and local exhibits contained in the Ag, School and 4-H buildings.

The 4-H arena is a popular place to enjoy quality livestock judging and showmanship, and at 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon, the arena will be bustling with buyers and 4-Hers gathered for the 4-H Livestock Sale and Appreciation Dinner.

Contact the Richland County Fair Office at 406-433-2801 to purchase your grandstand tickets or fair buttons. A special package deal containing one of each: Thursday night rodeo ticket, Friday night rodeo ticket, Saturday night concert ticket and fair button, is available through Friday, July 29 for $52. Individual tickets are also available, presale rodeo tickets costing $9 for adults or $3 for children. At-the-gate tickets will be $10 for adults $3 for children. Saturday’s concert ticket options include presale general seats for $35 or $40 the week of the concert. reserved seating is sold out.

The charge at the fair entrance will be $2 per day. A fair button good for all four days can be purchased for $5 before the presale deadline of July 29 and $8 the week of the fair.

The P.O.P—Pay One Price—tickets are available for the amusement rides. The cost is $20 for a day of unlimited rides. Tickets can be purchased at the fair office or at SPF Exxon (Super Pumper). Make sure to take advantage of this deal before tickets run out. The Royal West Carnival Company website (www.funnbiz.com) is also offering Super Tickets which include an unlimited ride wristband good for one person for all days of the event and $10 in food/game tokens for only $45. They also offer online advanced sale tickets which include an unlimited ride stamp and $3 in food/game tokens for only $20. These tickets will be sold until 4 p.m., Aug. 3, or while supplies last.
