Jensen Earns 2012 Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award

Sarah Jensen of Richey High School was recently presented the school’s highest agricultural honor, the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award, sponsored by Monsanto Company. Jensen, the daughter of Neil and Ellen Jensen, received the award for excellence in academics, leadership and agricultural work experience. Jensen’s significant experiences and accomplishments have included competing in Extemporaneous speaking at State and placing 3rd as a junior and 2nd as a senior. Sarah gained confidence by participating in State Talent, and she won the contest her junior year. Sarah has served as an officer in all the organizations she belongs to including FFA, 4-H, student council, choir, class, and sports captains for volleyball and basketball. She is also the salutatorian of her class.

Crystal Johnson is Jensen’s agricultural education instructor at Richey High School.

This year the DEKALB Agricultural Accomplishment Award celebrates its 65th anniversary. Over these 65 years more than 168,000 high school seniors from across the country have received the Award, which has become a symbol for excellence and the school’s highest agricultural honor. In 2011, over 2,000 students from high schools in 49 of the 50 states were recognized with the award.

As the winner of the 2012 Award, Sarah Jensen’s name will be recorded on a permanent plaque displayed at Richey High School.
