KATQ’s NE Montana Farm Expo Coming Up March 15-16

The 30th annual KATQ Northeast Montana Farm Expo will be held in Plentywood at the Sheridan County Civic Center March 15th and 16th. The hours are 9-5 on Friday and 9-4 on Saturday. Fifty vendors from the northern plains states as well as Saskatchewan and Alberta will exhibit their products. Starting out the activities will be a Farm and Ranch Appreciation Breakfast Friday morning from 7:00-8:30. Tickets for this event are free, but there is a limited number and attendees must pick up their free tickets from KATQ studios, 112 3rd Ave. Plentywood. The breakfast will be held at the Gold Dollar Steakhouse.

The Friday evening prime rib or halibut banquet will be held at the Plentywood High School multi-purpose room and will be catered by Angel Light Catering. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at Plentywood Rexall or KATQ studios. The evening dinner begins at 6 pm and guest speaker is Ryan Taylor of Towner, North Dakota. Taylor describes himself as a “freelance writer, a syndicated columnist, a book peddling publisher, a public relations man for a beef coop, a road weary sales rep for an animal health company and a rope twirling after dinner speaker and entertainer.”

The KATQ Ag Woman for 2013 Award and the Sheridan Co. Conservation Award for Farm of the Year will also be given at the banquet.

The KATQ Ladies Style Show and Bubbley takes place Saturday morning at the Elks Club at 10:30. The theme this year is Breakfast at Tiffanys and includes fashions from area stores with area models. Tickets are $15 and must be purchased before March 16th from area stores.

Educational seminars scheduled are: Friday, 9-11 am, Columbia Grains spring update and spring meeting, 1-3 pm Ed Haugen, Thrivent-Keeping the Farm in the Family: Basic financial, estate and relationship management. Saturday, 9-11, CPR Saturday with Plentywood EMS: Basic first aid for farmers and ranchers, 11-12 noon Curtis Farm and Auto-Carquest seminar on Power Service Products, Inc and from 1:30-3pm, Northern Ag weatherman John Pulasky will present his popular “Discuss and Cuss the Weather” Outlook for Spring and Summer

During the expo, the Knights of Columbus will be serving lunch and the Sheridan County Angel Tree will be serving homemade pie.

The theme of this year’s photo contest is Women in Ag. All photos will be displayed throughout the month of March in the Sheridan County Library.
