Carda Selected as Catholic Daughters Scholarship Recipient

Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Mother Cabrini #1766 Sidney has chosen McKenzie Carda as the recipient of their $500 scholarship which is presented to a student with at least one year of college completed and a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church or one of its missions. McKenzie is a student at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and pursuing a career in the medical field.

This past summer she volunteered at a health clinic in Patchakan, Belize where visiting villages she took family and personal health histories and vitals which were then presented when the patients were examined by a physician in the clinic.  Afterwards they accompanied the patient to the pharmacy to insure their understanding of medications prescribed. In addition McKenzie attended a suture and injections class and did presentations on tropical diseases.  McKenzie is the daughter of Rory and Mary and during her high school years was a Junior Catholic Daughter and catechist for religion classes and children’s liturgy.
