SHS Powder Puff Flag Football Oct. 15

The annual Powder Puff flag football game will take place next Sunday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. at Swanson Field, Sidney.

This is the 20th anniversary of the Close Up fundraiser with advisor Brad Faulhaber! There will be lots of snacks and a 50-50 drawing and Blue Rock will be sponsoring drinks.

"This game is the Junior girls versus the Senior girls," said participant Ryleigh Kleinke. "There are about 50 girls and 10-13 coaches participating". The coaches are males, but all of the players are female.

Students have been practicing for weeks. "This is a big competition in our high school," said senior coach Cayden Heck.

Each participant spends $40 to play and coach. This includes the crewnecks each participant gets to put their number and name on. There will be a $5 entry fee for fans who come to watch. "All of the funds go to SHS Close-Up so we can go to Washington DC and use it to learn about our government and history," said Kleinke. "The game is fun because we (girls) get to do something that isn't always provided by public schools (female flag football), and learn from our male classmates what it's like to play football. We also get to trash talk each other and compete for bragging rights and we all get cute crewnecks."

Don't miss the entertainment on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m.
