Best known for their work with The Paperboys, Tom and Kalissa Landa branched out on their own after their Covid lockdown-born online gatherings, they called "The Slipper Sessions" brought forth new songs, penned specifically for the two of them, instead of their entire band. Traveling from Canada will be the Folk-Roots power couple Tom and Kalissa Landa to the MonDak Heritage Center, 120 3rd Ave. SE, Sidney, on Nov. 16 at 7 p.m.
This duo is best known as lead members of The Paperboys, or their Latin inspired counterpart Locarno, as well as the BC World Music Collective. Their music is a combination of Celtic, Folk, Latin, Mexican, and Roots music and also reflects their respective Mexican and Chilean heritages.
Tom and Kalissa have a lovely vocal harmony blend and draw the listener in with great songs played on fiddle, guitar, and jarana (Mexican 8 string guitar).
