Sidney, MT – Sidney Health Center Extended Care recently named Margaret Seitz the 2023 Resident of the Year. Margaret was honored at a celebration on April 2 in the dining room at Extended Care. Family, friends, residents and staff gathered to celebrate the occasion with a brief program including a cake in her honor and refreshments.
Margaret has been an integral part of the Extended Care community since June 2022, bringing with her a spirit of kindness, thoughtfulness, and unwavering sweetness. Staff members describe her as one of the most appreciative and loving individuals they've ever encountered, whose mere presence brightens the days of those around her. She is always looking out for her people and is loved greatly by her family at Extended Care.
Born in Butte, MT, Margaret takes pride in her Croatian heritage and the sacrifices her parents made for her and her brother. A graduate of Butte High School, Margaret earned a Merit scholarship and pursued a double major in Spanish and Political Science – International Relations at the University of Montana. Go Griz! While initially aspiring for a career with the CIA, Margaret's path led her to teaching at Sidney High School in Sidney, MT, where she met her beloved husband, William "Bill" Seitz.
Following their marriage, Margaret and Bill established an insurance agency and welcomed five children into their lives. Margaret was also very active in the community. She served as chairman of the Sidney School Board and was able to hand out diplomas to 4 of her 5 children. She also served on the Regional Council for Developmental Disabilities, District #2 Drug and Alcohol program, volunteered at the hospital gift shop, and many other civic, community, and church activities. After the passing of her husband, she carried on with her volunteer work, and tended to her beloved flower garden and lilac hedges.
Margaret knows the importance of touching people's lives with her impeccable words of wisdom and love through a simple, yet eloquently personalized Hallmark card. She expresses her genuine words of affirmation and love to each and every one of her 21 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
