Sidney VFW Post #4099 Fallen Project

The Sidney VFW Post #4099 currently is in its 3rd year of its ongoing project created to honor fallen veterans who served from WWI to the War on Terrorism. A “living document”, the PowerPoint Presentation has a slide dedicated to each service member who sacrificed their life for our country, and the goal is for every slide to have at least one photograph, and information on that veteran’s life. Their current list of names is being updated with several additional service members, and they are taking donations towards more research to continuously improve the document.

Last year, they were able to raise enough money to purchase a TV, which hangs above the table honoring Prisoners of War and Missing in Action service members. The TV shows this presentation around the clock.

The MonDak Heritage Center Museum, Sidney, has been responsible for finding many of the older photographs and information they have on veterans from World War I and World War II. The museum archives and time have been an invaluable resource for the VFW’s project, but they are asking the public to help as well. Families have come forward with photographs and stories of their fallen, and every piece improves the project honoring their memory. If you have any photographs of a veteran who died in combat, please contact Quartermaster Everett Krum or Commander Bill Henderson through the VFW Post or their Facebook Page, or call 406-489-4634.
