Alexander will be holding their 79th Annual Old Settler's Day Aug. 29-31, 2024. This year's honorees are Harold and Myrna Monson. Events start Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. with the Color Run/Walk. Myrna and Harold Monson were both born and raised near Alexander. Harold was the oldest of five born to Floyd and Agnes Monson. He started his education in a one-room schoolhouse that still stands today outside of Alexander. After 8th grade, he began high school in Alexander and graduated in 1965. On July 7, the Ceynar family faced a devastating tragedy when a house fire destroyed their home and all their possessions. Dustin and Clay Ceynar sustained severe burns and were urgently flown to Minneapolis for treatment. Alexander School officials report that an individual has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation regarding an incident on April 15.
