Border Steel and Recycling – A Full Steel Service Center

Established in 1985 by father and son, William and Bret Smelser, Border Steel and Recycling opened its doors in Glendive, Montana. Today, Border Steel and Recyling, Inc. is a thriving business with a third-generation Smelser on board. Bret's son, Brady Smelser, stepped in to help his family and together they've expanded their business to include three Montana locations: Glendive, Sidney and Plentywood and a Williston, ND location.

Through the years, Border Steel and Recycling has quickly become a full steel service center carrying a wide range of structural and finish steel products, steel fabrication and offering both ferrous and non ferrous metal recycling services. They also carry a large variety of Ag products and construction products to meet the demands of the community.

In addition to steel services and recycling, Border Steel and Recycling offers a service not offered by many in the area – buying hides. Vice President Brady Smelser states, "We've always been big in hides. We purchase beef hides and deer and elk hides during game season and then we sell them to tanneries."

Border Steel and Recycling feels customer service is their #1 priority because they believe their customers are the most important part of their business. Not only do they make sure their customers get the products and services they want and deserve, but they are also a huge supporter of their community. "We are sponsors for numerous organizations throughout the community, too many to mention without leaving one out," says Brady Smelser.
