New Education Coordinator At MonDak Heritage Center

Jessica Newman is very excited about getting the Sidney community more involved in art. As the new education coordinator at the MonDak Heritage Center, Newman will provide a wide range of art programming for all ages at all skill levels.

Originally from Richmond, VA, Newman has degrees in art and art history from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, VA which is a sister school to the University of Virginia. She has worked for several museums including the VMFA, the Virginia Historical Society and the Musee Rodin in Paris.

Newman started her duties at MDHC Tuesday, May 26 and is looking to grow with the Center. "I am pleased to be part of something so awesome for the community," she said. She said she wants to become a real part of the community, providing for its needs, and helping it grow. She welcomes suggestions from the community on programs they would like to see developed. She also hopes to provide some after school enrichment programs, such as ceramics, in the schools.

"I really like Sidney," Newman said. "Everyone is very nice and welcoming. I'm happy to be a part of this community."

MDHC executive director Kim Simmonds commented, "Jessica has lots of really great ideas. I'm excited to have her here and am looking forward to what she'll bring to the community."

MonDak Heritage Center is located at 120 3rd Ave. SE, Sidney. Their phone number is 406-433-3500. Stop by or call Jessica and welcome her to the neighborhood.
