Fairview's FCCLA Chapter Earns Awards at State Competition

On Sunday, March 19th, Fairview High School's Future Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) members headed off to Billings, Montana for the State FCCLA Competition. On Monday, the students competed in Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) Events. STAR Events help prepare students for the future by providing them with skills such as individual and leadership development, personal growth, career preparation, and application of learning through the activities they participate in.

On Tuesday morning, there was an award ceremony held at the Radisson Hotel in Billings, MT and all of the participants from Fairview earned a medal. Grace Dragseth competed in Fashion Construction and received a gold medal. She also was given a scholarship of $1,000 and a chance to go to FCCLA Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee in July. Courtney Seadeek and Emily Mocko competed in the project, Chapter In Review and both were awarded silver medals. Alexis Sundheim and Jaycie Rau competed in Chapter Service Project and both earned silver medals. Bailey Seader and Elizabeth Shannon took part in Focus on Children project and received a bronze. Anna Dragseth competed in Job Interview and also received a bronze.

Grace Dragseth, secretary of FCCLA and senior at Fairview High School, said," When I received the gold medal, plaque, and scholarship, I felt like all my hard work had really paid off. I can't wait to present it again in Nashville, TN in July! My goal for this project was to design and construct a prom dress that was unique, elegant, and of course my favorite color. I am very excited to go to nationals; hard work really does pay off!"
