Equinor Contributes Over $34K To STEM Education Fellowship

Williston, ND - Equinor, an energy company operating in the Williston Basin, has donated over $34,000 to educators promoting STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education in McKenzie and Williams counties in North Dakota.

Three educators were selected as fellows through a competitive application process in participation with the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation. The recipients of the 2020 fellowship are:

• Lesley Allan, Lewis and Clark Elementary; recognized for Sphero robotics in more classrooms and training for educators across the district, maximizing the learning that can come from Spheros for each student.

• Alexandria Brummond, Alexander Public School; who will attend the training and implement engineering principles with support of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) into the classroom.

• James Skinner, Williston High School; who will attend a game development conference with plans to strengthen the technology curriculum for students interested in a career in technology related fields.

"We are excited to help local educators turn their visions into a reality through our STEM Fellowship funding. Meeting each candidate gave me the opportunity to see the passion they have for personal development and for helping students in our community grow. STEM is a part of our daily lives; and society cannot progress towards advancement without in science, technology, engineering and math," said Linda Pitman, Williston Basin Regional Manager.

Applications for Equinor's 2020 STEM Fellowships will openlater this fall.
