Accident Involving Passenger Train and Tractor Near Bainville

 

Railroad crews work to get Amtrak cars back on the tracks after derailment between Culbertson & Bainville.

There has been an accident between an Amtrak passenger train and a John Deer sprayer tractor at mile marker 653, at a crossing with no crossing arms, on Highway 2 near Bainville. The male operating the sprayer is deceased. The Amtrak train has 10 cars derailed with multiple injuries being reported. The injured passengers are being taken to Culbertson High School for triage. Roosevelt County dispatch informs that all train traffic is stopped on the line. They recommend avoiding the 6th Avenue Bainville crossing and to reroute traffic to the underpass.
