Sidney Livestock JSEC 2020 Employer Of Choice

Sidney Livestock has been a huge asset to Sidney for many years. The first Stockyard was called Yellowstone Livestock and was opened in 1943. In 1966 the current facility was built. In 2012 Yellowstone Livestock was purchased by Tim Larson, Rodney Prewitt and Mike Yore. Tim took over as manager. Since it was purchased many improvements have been made including expansion of the yards and pens, new water systems, remodeling of the sales ring, new shop and new veterinary shack. All of these improvements have helped to make working cattle much easier and safer for the workers as well as the cattle.

Sidney Livestock has anywhere form 15 to 35 employees working on sale days, just depending on the time of year and size of sale. October through March is our busiest time of year.

Tim and Kristin definitely make their workers feel like family, making Sidney Livestock a great work environment. They both open up many opportunities for the youth in our community. Sidney Livestock has had many high school kids working after school thru the school's work program. They offer many learning opportunities for 4-H participants and elementary school classes. A few examples are steer weigh-ins for 4-H members, education speakers and gatherings for the youth wanting to learn more about the ranching industry and offering tours for grade school age children.

The continued success of Sidney Livestock is a huge asset to Sidney and we are here to help our community in any way we can!
