Governor Gianforte Leads Listening Session in Sidney

Travels to Richland County Following Announced Closure of Sidney Sugars

SIDNEY, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte tonight traveled to Sidney to sit down with leaders and members of the community facing the announced closure of the Sidney Sugars processing plant.

"Facing this closure, many folks in Richland County are wondering what the future holds for them, but together, they share a resolve to grow stronger," Gov. Gianforte said. "Our united, resilient Montana spirit was on full display tonight in Sidney, and we're committed to doing all we can to help folks get back on their feet."

Convening officials and community leaders for a roundtable at the Richland County Fairgrounds, Gov. Gianforte led a discussion to foster solutions as the community works to support those impacted by the plant's closure.

Mayor Rick Norby spoke to the resilience of Sidney, saying, "We will work through this together. We are blessed to have great people around with all three commissioners, and a great governor. We are Montanans, we stick together. Especially Richland County, we stick together, and we get through."
