The Richland County Cancer Coalition, sponsored by the Richland County Health Department, is gearing up for the 8th Annual “Best Kept Secret” Bra Auction and requesting community groups, businesses, and individuals to participate by decorating and donating a “theme-related” brassiere.

Last year, the event raised nearly $65,000 to help with Phase II of Sidney Health Center’s Cancer Center. Ross Rossaaen from Niehenke Welding won the “Most Supportive” award when his bra creation, entitled “Spike My Cancer Not My Heart,” raised $14,000. Other awards included “People’s Choice” by Debbie and Lindsay Wagner, Heather Nevins and Deann Franz, “Most Inspirational” by the family and friends of Jean Turcotte, and “Best Business” by Niehenke Welding.

His “iron-works” bra titled, Spike My Cancer, Not My Heart, brought in $14,000 at the 2012 event.

This year proceeds will benefit the Local Cancer Coalition Relief Fund, at the Foundation for Community Care. The Cancer Coalition Relief Fund monetarily assists individuals fighting cancer in Sidney and the surrounding area. The decorated bras will be auctioned off on the evening of April 26 at the Sidney Elks Lodge. RK Auctioneer Service will live auction the bras and other items will be included in the silent auction. Appetizers and music by K-Hook will also be part of the festivities.

“This event draws a lot of attention for a cause that is near and dear to me. Plus, it brings a significant amount of funds for the cancer care programs in our area,” stated Troy Barnett, the program coordinator for the Site 13 Montana Comprehensive Cancer Control Program.

To participate, individuals, groups or businesses must submit their registration to the Richland County Health Department by April 17 and bra entries must be submitted by April 22. The entire bra package will be auctioned off (excluding mannequins).

Rosaaen of Niehenke Welding indicated that he is going all out this year and would like to unveil his latest creation at the event. Attendees can sign up for their bid numbers beginning at 6:00PM. The live and silent auctions will start at 7:00PM followed by the DJ music at 9:00PM.
