Life Light Christian Music Festival, June 8, Watford City

On June 8, 2019, Switchfoot will be performing with a few others in Watford City. For the second year in a row, several western North Dakota churches have come together to bring a Life Light Christian Music Festival to Watford City, North Dakota.

Just a couple years ago, Kelby Timmons decided he wanted to share the gospel with the people of western North Dakota. He also noticed a need for good, clean family-friendly events that were geared toward the entire family, not just the kids. Last year he gathered a team of like-minded individuals from the different churches in the area and they came across Life Light. His team contacted the organization via their website. http://www.lifelight.org and set about doing what needed to be done to get the festival to Watford City.

According to their website, Life Light Communications, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Evangelistic Organization based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Life Light exists to bring people together across denominational lines, to reach out to local communities and beyond with the message of hope and the love of Jesus Christ. Life Light facilitates numerous concerts, mission trips, and other events by partnering with local churches, businesses, and other ministries. Alan and Vicki Greene, founders of Life Light, believe that everything should be done with excellence for the Lord. The founding principle of Life Light is to offer all festivals and events free of admission so that all may come, and all may freely hear the Gospel message of Jesus Christ. Alan and Vicki felt a calling to "take the church outside the walls" while on a mission trip to Mexico in 1998. At first, they just had the music festivals in Sioux Falls, then last year they started taking their festivals on the road, touring cities in the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Iowa.

This year's Life Light Festival in Watford City is at the McKenzie County Fairgrounds East of town from 1 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Switchfoot, Sanctus Real, DJ Peacock, White Ribbon Day, Cade Thompson, and Bread of Stone will be performing. There will be BMX and FMX riders performing, a kids area open from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a bouncy house, rock painting, and a puppet show by Treagillusions. Burrito Bros, Corner Kitchen, Pizza Pie in the Sky and Mississippi BBQ will have food booths.

Thanks to the donations of local churches, businesses, and individuals this year's event will meet Life Light's founding principle and be free to all. More general and contact information on this event can be found on the Life Light Festival Watford City Facebook page.
