ZUMBA Fever Hits Richland County

Yes, we are all told we need to get more exercise, right? The list of reasons that we can find as to why we don’t exercise is long. On that list is sometimes that exercise is boring, not fun, or too hard. For the people in the Sidney area, this is no longer true. A dynamic, exciting, exhilarating and effective fitness system has hit us. It is ZUMBA.

The ZUMBA program is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements, creating the fitness program. A ZUMBA class, known as a ZUMBA Fitness-Party, combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobic/fitness approach to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits.

Not only is ZUMBA a blast, it is easy and effective. The cardio based workout offers components of resistance/sculpting training that people of any fitness level can use to help meet personal fitness goals.

Some of the first ZUMBA activity in Sidney started a few years back when Judy Johnson with the Richland County Extension Service introduced it to the community. Today, ZUMBA Fitness-Party opportunities are available in the Sidney area.

Certified ZUMBA Instructor, Melanie Wadley holds ZUMBA on Monday and Thursday evenings at 7 pm at St. Matthews or Saturday mornings at 10 am.

There are three local certified ZUMBA instructors available to answer your ZUMBA questions or introduce you to this great party.

If interested in ZUMBA contact Jeanna at 939-1745, Melanie at 478-1980, or Theresa at 488-1288 for more information about current or future classes. For a sneak peak as to what ZUMBA is all about check out the demonstration at the Community Health Fair on March 12th at 5:30 pm at the Richland County Fair Event Center.
