Metz Fuel and Service Brings Full Service Back to Sidney

In June of 2014, Jim Metz opened Metz Fuel and Service, formerly Thogersen Oil Co. The decision to open the full-service gas station came easily for Metz who started similar work in high school.

"It's just something I've always wanted to do," Metz says of owning the business.

The service station, located at 625 S Central Ave Sidney, has been busy since its opening.

"There's definitely not a lot of down time," comments Metz who adds he is looking to hire another employee to help with the steady flow of business.

Metz Fuel and Service offer a full-service gas station as well as light mechanical work. They also provide bulk fuel and oil delivery to farmers, ranchers and some construction crews.

In addition, Metz does tire repair and has a wide selection of tires for sale. This includes snow tires, which is a great start to preparing vehicles for winter. Metz recommends checking tire pressure at least once a month during the winter as tires can lose pressure in frigid temperatures.

Block heaters are also important in this part of the country and he suggests having your current one checked or having one installed. Plugging a vehicle in is recommended when temperatures drop below zero.

Antifreeze and windshield wiper fluid should be at appropriate levels and when you schedule an oil change, a thorough inspection is standard.

All drivers should remember to give themselves time to acclimate to driving on snow and ice. Allow extra time to get from place to place and minimize distractions especially to avoid slamming on brakes.

Service work can usually be scheduled with in about two days at Metz Fuel and Service. Call 406-433-2402 to make an appointment.
